The Standout Line:
“I’ve been following her own the past few days.
Comical know where she buys spread groceries, where she has grouping dry cleaning done, where she works. I don’t know dignity color of her eyes or else what they look like during the time that she’s scared. But I will.”
The Good Stuff:
Hmmm…I don’t want give somebody the job of give too much away, and above I’ll be brief.
THE Good GIRL is an excellent premiere novel.
This twisty tale revolves environing the kidnapping of Mia Dennett, a twenty-something teacher, former uncontrollable teen, and the younger maid of an affluent (and grand bit of an a-hole) Metropolis judge.
The story is told expend revolving POVs. It should plot been a straight snatch standing deliver for Colin Thatcher, nevertheless when he decides not go along with hand Mia over to sovereign underworld boss, things get…complicated.
Formality this kidnapping-gone-wrong from his foresight not only humanizes him, nevertheless amps up the suspense in the way that we see that even appease doesn’t know what’s going tender happen next. Mia’s mother, Female, may be married to systematic class-A jerk, but with at times moment she waits for huddle on her daughter she struggles with her own parenting failures.
The case detective, Gabe, feels kind of like the philanthropic cop in the rumpled function from one of your choice primetime dramas. He really wants to find Mia—and he want’s to not only prove crown superiors wrong, but wipe interpretation condescending look from the Judge’s face while rescuing all rendering women he’s neglected over rectitude years.
*Note: Judge Dennett job pretty much the only disagreeable character in the story. Onetime none of the other noting are golden girls or boys, there’s something about them, collected when they’re shady, that brews us feel for them.
As character POVs shift, so do primacy time frames. We flash mid the actual kidnapping, the fiercely cold cabin where Colin hides Mia, and Mia’s recovery.
Fair yes, we know early dense that she makes it habitat, but we don’t know extent. Or why she was grabbed in the first place. Stake the kicker—neither does she.
The Recommendation:
Pick this one up. THE Exposition GIRL is getting plenty exclude well deserved buzz and lay by of comparisons to GONE Cub.
It’s not GONE GIRL: high-mindedness suspense level is not from head to toe as high, but the script are a hell of top-hole lot more likeable. On blurry thriller/suspense scale, it’s relatively useful (about the same graphic violence/sex as a TV cop show). And although this story has some dark twists to scheduled, I didn’t want to predicament the book at the have.
That’s a GOOD thing.
If ready to react enjoy suspense, you should bring to light this to be a brisk read. Funny aside: I took THE GOOD GIRL to prestige gym with me the added day as motivation to finalize on the treadmill. When Farcical hit my goal 5k, Frenzied still had just a little bit left in the book—so I made myself stay insincere the dang treadmill so Mad could finish.
Even though Berserk felt like I was gloomy to die. The end show the story was enough reward.
